Josh Hutcherson (profile)
18 year old Josh Hutcherson has been one of Hollywood’s most accomplished young actors for almost 10 years.
Josh can currently be seen in Lisa Cholodenko’s The Kids are All Right, which took the best feature film prize at the Berlin International Film Festival’s Teddy Awards. The film, which costars Annette Bening and Julianne Moore as a couple negotiating the newfound presence of the sperm donor of their children, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, where it was acquired by Focus Features in one of the festival’s biggest deals and premiered to rave reviews. It has now earned 4 Golden Globe nominations, 3 Screen Actors Guild Awards (including Best Cast), 5 Spirit Award Nominations and Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Ensemble Cast.
Josh is currently in Hawaii shooting the much anticipated sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth, Journey 2: Mysterious Island. The film, which co-stars Michael Caine, Dwayne Johnson, Luis Guzman and Vanessa Hudgens, focuses on Josh’s character as he partners with his mother’s boyfriend on a mission to find his grandfather, who is allegedly missing on a mythical island.
Josh recently completed production on the independent feature film Detention. Directed by Joseph Kahn, the hybrid horror/comedy focuses on a group of teens during their senior year of high school as they are stalked by a slasher movie-killer. Hutcherson also served as Executive Producer on the film.
Josh will next be seen in the film Red Dawn, a remake of the 1984 classic about a group of teenagers trying to save their town from foreign soldiers.
Josh was most recently seen in the Universal Pictures adaptation of Darren Shan’s successful book series, The Vampire’s Assistant, opposite John C. Reilly and Salma Hayek. Prior to that, Josh starred in Carmel, in which Josh plays a young man inducted into the world of art-forgery in Carmel, California and opposite Brendan Fraser in Walden Media and New Line Cinema’s Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D. The film was the first ever high definition 3-D live performance feature film and went on to become a huge box office hit.
Josh’s other feature film credits include Bridge To Terabithia, Winged Creatures, Firehouse Dog, RV, Little Manhattan, Zathura, Kicking and Screaming, Howl’s Moving Castle and The Polar Express. Josh won Young Artist Awards for “Leading Young Actor” for his roles in Zathura and Bridge to Terebithia.
